So you are saying that you know exactly who of the applicants were native English speakers? That aside, it was nowhere stated that you must be native to be eligible. The requirement was "You must have a strong understanding and command of the English language". Um, yes we can all see who is native, they quite clearly stated it in their applications actually..
And of course it wasn't a requirement, but when one of your strictest points to be considered was a strong understanding of the language, you would logically choose native speakers first to avoid miscommunication. But I'm not an admin or moderator, so I can't be sure if this is actually their reasoning. Sorry to those who got cut regardless.
